The SOUND and MUSIC Workshop - ‘discover your genius’; is a forum to learn the rudiments of sound and music in a live jazz atmosphere by connecting experienced talented musicians and sound experts in the field with aspiring musicians and sound enthusiasts to help discover and develop their genius!

The SOUND and MUSIC Workshop holds second Friday of every month by 6:00pm @ NuStreams Conference Centre, Km 110, Abeokuta road, Off Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan.

The SOUND and MUSIC Workshop - ‘discover your genius’ is a component of a scalable social reform framework called IDEASBRIDGE unlimited; a body of ideas that provides us with an opportunity and responsibility to contribute to the transformation of our cities and nations in physical, economic, social and political terms.

Mission
Revolutions and Entrepreneurial journeys often begin with an epiphany, a sudden intuitive leap of understanding, an illuminating discovery by an individual that typically sets him or her out on a quest. For every one, this trigger would be different. For you, it could be what you learn from a book, or it could be an experience – yours or that of a loved one.
Our mission is to expose participants of The SOUND and MUSIC Workshop - ‘discover your genius’ to a vast array and range of aspects of Music ( voice training, song writing, producing, directing, musical instrument proficiency, conducting etc.) and commonly encountered sound system design concerns, with detailed discussions of: microphones, speaker systems, equalizers, mixers, signal processors, crossovers, amplifiers, system wiring and interfaces, indoor and outdoor sound considerations, psychoacoustics etc

Vision
To be an invaluable resource for serious contemporary musicians and persons involved in selecting, purchasing, wiring and setting up sound reinforcement equipment.

Objectives
We can spend a lifetime in an industry and not discover our genius. The forum exists to help people discover their natural genius in the industry which they passionately love and develop this newly discovered skill and talent to its peak.

How do we intend to achieve our objectives?
By creating a platform for musicians, music directors, song writers, sound engineers etc. to make various presentations in a live jazz atmosphere that would help aspiring musicians and sound enthusiasts discover and develop their genius.

The Instructors
Experienced Instruction from Professional Musicians and Sound Experts. Music is a journey. And our well-educated facilitators have traveled down virtually every road in the industry. Rock, jazz, and blues guitarists, classical, pop, and gospel pianists, jazz saxophonists, or pop and classical vocalists together with a very wide range of sound considerations, both indoor and outdoor – you name it, we‘ve got it. You simply tell us which aspect of industry you’re interested in and we select the right teacher for you.
Our instructors are an eclectic collection of some of the most highly regarded, professional musicians and sound experts in Nigeria. Our teachers share their years of experience, skills, musical passion and sound dexterity with all participants, taking them wherever they want to go, musically.

What we are about!
The SOUND and MUSIC Workshop - ‘discover your genius’ is designed to bring a real musical experience to the people of Ibadan while maintaining the ethos that learning can be fun. It provides access to learning and experiencing musical performances through the delivery of a range of high quality music services.
We are about making all kinds of music as an amateur or a pro, making it beautifully and making it fun;
We are about returning to music as an adult to sing or play with friends, family, a community chorus, a choir, an orchestra or band;
We are about the joy of learning to compose and improvise in the languages of traditional music, classical music, pop, rock or jazz;
We are about performing chamber music with winds, strings, voice or keyboard, and participating in music camps, retreats and workshops

Whether you are an adult beginner or someone returning to music; or you run sound for a high energy rock band, mix acoustic performers in a small club or restaurant, or you simply want to understand how to set up a PA in your house of worship, The SOUND and MUSIC Workshop - ‘discover your genius’ is for you!

You‘ll see hands-on demonstrations; tips and techniques used in real live sound situations from indoor venues to outdoor stages – in short the ins and outs of sound system components, setups, mixing and trouble shooting.
